Worship

WorshipThe New Heights Community gathers for united worship services every Sunday morning at 9:30 and 11:00am in the gym (also called the CLC) at AHUMC. For detailed directions, click here.

At New Heights, the most important aspect of worship is your presence. It doesn't matter what you believe, what you look like or what clothes you wear...it just matters that you are there. Come as you are. Don't be surprised to see someone in shorts and flip-flops sitting next to someone in a suit and tie...it really doesn't matter.

As for what you will experience and what you will "have to do", our outlook remains the same...just be there. Even the most devout disciple of Christ is going to experience times when they don't feel like being in a worship service. That is okay. Come anyway and just sit and observe. No one is going to expect you to behave or worship a certain way. It is more important to us that you are there and offering who you really are in that moment to God and to the community. Authenticity is important...presentation is not.

Our services involve a time of "corporate" worship which just means that we praise God together...through the presentation of the Scriptures, prayer, music and artistic expressions, teaching, testimonies and even silence. While our community is encouraged to pray with and for each other during worship, we follow each service with a dedicated time and space for further reflection, talk-back, prayer with elders, and anointing for any who desire it.

The last thing that you need to know about our services is that they are a continuing evolution. We are not interested in formulas and programs. Rather, we feel called to leave our time together open to whatever God wants to do that morning...so what you experience each Sunday may differ.

If you have any other questions, please shoot us an e-mail or give us a call. We want you to feel like you have a home in our community...so if there is something we can do to that effect, let us know.
